Sports Massage, Deep Tissue & Soft Tissue Therapy in London

Treatment is organised around what you want to change. Start with the outcome you are after: relieving pain, recovering from an injury, or improving performance. The techniques follow from the assessment.

01 · Relieve Pain

Deep tissue massage in London for pain that keeps returning

Deep tissue massage uses firm, progressive pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, breaking down the adhesions and knots that build at every activity level, most of them from postural imbalance.

The aim is to find the origin of that imbalance, not just quiet the symptom. Danielle’s style is relaxing yet effective. Muscles respond best when they are not braced against you.

Back, hip, shoulder and neck pain are the most common complaints, usually traceable to long hours at a desk or travelling. Arthritis and spinal degeneration can be managed this way too: holistic, non-pharmacological and non-surgical.

Commonly treated with deep tissue massage

  • Upper & lower back pain
  • Neck & shoulder pain
  • Sciatica
  • Piriformis syndrome
  • RSI (repetitive strain injury)
  • Headache & migraine
  • Postural problems
  • Chronic pain
  • Tiredness & stress
  • Muscle compensation patterns

02 · Recover From Injury

Soft tissue therapy London: assessment, treatment, rehabilitation

Soft tissue therapy draws on massage, osteopathy and physiotherapy. It starts with assessment of posture, movement and injury, and it is not only for athletes.

A sprain or strain left untreated becomes a recurring weakness. Treatment is tailored to your sport or occupation, conditioning the right muscles and catching imbalances as they develop.

Commonly treated injuries

  • Muscle strains
  • Sprain injuries
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Knee injuries
  • Tennis elbow
  • Shin splints
  • Whiplash
  • Tendonitis
  • Poor muscle activation
  • Post-surgical recovery

Pregnancy & prenatal massage

Pregnancy shifts posture, load and ligament laxity quickly, and the lower back, hips and pelvis feel it first. Prenatal treatment uses side-lying positioning and adapted pressure, with homecare advice suited to each trimester.

Rehabilitation & homecare

You leave with the tools to progress your own rehabilitation and injury prevention. Tailored homecare advice comes as standard.

03 · Improve Performance

Sports massage London: timed around your event

When you book matters as much as what you book. Use the guide below to time treatment around your event.

Kinesiology tape applied across a client's shoulder and upper back

Pre-event massage

Best about two hours beforehand, though the effects can last a day or two. It enhances your warm-up rather than replacing it.

  • Increases circulation to the muscles you are about to use
  • Raises muscle temperature and softens connective tissue
  • Enhances range of motion and settles pre-event nerves

Inter-event massage

Performed between events on the same day, at half-time or between heats. Usually ten minutes at most.

  • Targets tension built up in the activity just completed
  • Keeps the muscles warm and responsive
  • Short enough to fit a half-time break

Post-event massage

Best within two hours of competing, while the muscles are still warm and the work is most effective.

  • Enhances circulation to aid recovery from the activity
  • Decreases muscle and connective tissue tension
  • Concentrates on the muscle groups your sport loads most

How it works

The techniques behind the treatment

Which techniques are used, and in what combination, follows from your assessment rather than a fixed routine.

  • Neuromuscular therapy (NMT), effective for treating trigger points
  • Myofascial release (MFR)
  • Soft tissue release (STR)
  • Muscle energy technique (MET)
  • Gait analysis and posture assessment
  • Home stretching and rehabilitation advice

Who soft tissue therapy suits

Competitive athlete, gym-goer, desk worker, or running after small children: soft tissue therapy helps. Regular sessions matter most when working life is busy and stressful.

Please postpone your session if

You are unwell, feverish or have an infection. Treatment is also unsuitable with thrombosis, skin lesions or uncontrolled high blood pressure. See the full contraindications list.
